Mission Statement, Intervention, Metrics

The Austin Round Rock Metroplex covers 4,222 Square miles with a population of 2,227,083. Latinos are 33% of that population, 20% of households speak Spanish at home  https://censusreporter.org/profiles/31000US12420-austin-round-rock-georgetown-tx-metro-area/

The Kaiser Family Foundation1 in an analysis of CDC data in January 2021 found: “The vaccination rate among White people was over two and a half times higher than the rate for Hispanic people (13% vs. 5%) and , Hispanic adults (37%) said they wanted to “wait and see” how the vaccine works for other people, compared (26%) of White adults2.

Vaccination of this population is critical. Latinos have four major barriers to vaccine compliance: 1) Administration of Vaccine close to home,2) Digital, internet access to make vaccination appointments,3) Multigenerational household need to be processed as a unit rather than individuals, and 4) Information form trusted sources in our polarized society.

Intervention: Coalition Latino Covid (CLC) Outreach staff will build a relationship to address each of these concerns. Referrals from local Doctors, Dentists, and Faith leaders to CLC will target intervention to particular groups. The Outreach staff will understand the concerns, inform, and make a strategy to improve COVID vaccination.
